Force Cashless Payment Device Address

By default, the BluKey device will auto-negotiate either CPD1 or CPD2 registration on the vending machine (on machines that support two cashless payment devices).

In the case the BluKey does not register (solid red), try forcing registration. If there is no other cashless payment device, force CPD1. If there is another cashless payment device, force CPD2.

To force the address:

  1. Turn off machine, and install device.
  2. While pressing the button on the BluKey, turn on the power to the machine
  3. Light will flash purple. Release button.
  4. Press button to cycle through these options, pausing after each press until the light reflects new flash code:
    1 red flash = CPD 1
    2 red flashes = CPD 2
    3 red flashes = Auto-negotiate
  5. After pressing button to desired option, turn machine off and on.
  6. Upon successful start-up and registration, the BluKey light should now be solid blue.

Debug Mode

If there is a problem with the BluKey functioning correctly on a particular machine, the device can record diagnostic information and upload to PayRange servers for analysis. There are two Debug options (1)Issues not relating to registration, and (2) Registration issues.

If the device is registered on the MBD Bus (solid blue light) select Debug Option 1. If the issue involves successful registration, select Debug Option 2 (solid red light).

Debug Option 1 (Device is able to register but has other issues):

  1. Turn off machine, and install device.
  2. Turn on machine and wait for device to register (solid blue light).
  3. Press the button on the BluKey 3 times. The lights will change to a Red-Blue alternating flash (like police lights). This means the device is now logging data for 2 minutes.
  4. Close the door and replicate the problem.
  5. When done replicating the problem, press the button again (if it’s still flashing red-blue) and it will stop the logging. Otherwise if the device has returned to solid blue state, it has already stopped recording and button press is not necessary.
  6. Next upload the data from the device by swiping credit to the machine, and wait (don’t make a selection on the machine). Keep the bill in the “up” state. The debug data will automatically upload to the server. Depending on the amount of data, it can take up to three minutes. When it is complete, the bill will come down by itself indicating it is complete.
  7. Send an email to support@payrange.com with the Device Serial Number and a description of the problem so we can troubleshoot.

Debug Option 2 (Device is not able to register):

  1. Turn off machine, and install device.
  2. Turn and machine and wait a few seconds until you see solid red light.
  3. Press the button on the BluKey 4 times.
  4. Turn off machine and turn on machine again.
  5. Device will now be in debug mode for 2 minutes and lights will be Red-Blue alternating flash (like police lights).
  6. Close the machine door and replicate the problem.
  7. When done replicating the problem, press the button again (if it’s still flashing red-blue) and it will stop the logging. Otherwise if the device has returned to solid or flashing red only state, it has already stopped recording and button press is not necessary.
  8. Next upload the data by turning off machine and removing device. Install device in another machine where it will register.
  9. Swipe credit to the machine, and wait (don’t make a selection on the machine). Keep the bill in the “up” state. The debug data will automatically upload to the server. Depending on the amount of data, it can take up to three minutes. When it is complete, the bill will come down by itself indicating it is complete.
  10. 10.   Send an email to support@payrange.com with the Device Serial Number and a description of the problem so we can troubleshoot.

Check Version

When any machine is showing on the PayRange app, swipe bill up. The BluKey device firmware can be checked on iOS by taking TWO fingers and double-tapping the bill in the up position and on Android by taking ONE finger and double-tapping machine box with bill in up position. This will open a small pop-up window and display the firmware version of the BluKey in that machine. Higher firmware version is newer.

Firmware Updating

Using the PayRange app, swipe bill up and wait. Progress can be checked on iOS by taking TWO fingers and double-tapping the bill in the up position and on Android by taking ONE finger and double-tapping machine box with bill in up position. The BluKey device will download the new firmware from the mobile phone automatically. There is a blue progress bar that moves left to right. When download is complete, the bill will drop back down. Power machine off and on and that will cause the newer firmware to install.
